HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
It was in Lahore (now in Pakistan), in the year 1936, that there arose a need to impart education to the masses especially the girls & the weaker sections of the society. A social reformer, Dr.Bhagat Ram along with his wife Dr. Gyan Devi took the onus on themselves & put in their sweat & blood to establish ADARSH SCHOOL with the motto of “Simple Living & High Thinking”.
Due to the freedom struggle being at its peak, education took a back seat but the school was restarted in the National Capital under the dynamic administration of Mr. A.K. Sahgal. The school was recognized by the Directorate Of Education in 1985 & the school began its journey towards the shore of success under the able guidance of our Principal, Dr. Veena Sahgal. The school was upgraded to the secondary level & thus arose the need of a new school building. The hard work & sincerity of the school management helped in getting school land in 1992 in Kirti Nagar & now the school has the most modern building facilities which can lead us into the new millennium with wings spread to the maximum.
FACILITIES
The school aims at providing holistic education to enhance cognitive & non-cognitive skills in the children. Spacious class rooms, fully equipped laboratories, modern I&T labs, well stocked library with open access system, seminar room, activity rooms for music, arts & craft etc are some features of the school.
The building is scientifically designed with spacious classrooms with the latest technology in teaching aids. Computer labs flaunt the latest Pentium, Internet and web site enabling the students to explore the wonders of the world. The labs are well equipped and spacious providing the students with an opportunity of learning by doing.
Wide choice of activities are woven in the matrix of the curriculum. Regular co-curricular activities both Inter & Intra school like dance, drama, quiz, declamation, debate, and recitation, on the spot essay/painting, etc. are organised to draw but the best in each child. Besides this, the students are also exposed to a wide spectrum of activities like Judo, Skating, Yoga, Aerobics along with the usual Table Tennis, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Hand Ball, Kho-Kho, etc. in the school’s sports arena which is ideal for all sports and games. The school is also a proud owner of an opulent Library with a wide range of books catering to the needs of every age group.
Community services programmes like Health and Consumer Awareness Melas, Education for All, Free Education to Weaker Sections of Society are blended perfectly in the school curriculum. Anti-crackers, Save Environment campaigns organised by Eco Club helped in curbing and bringing pollution level down on Diwali proved to be a right step in the right direction at the right time. Environment Protection through ‘No To Polybags’ campaign is gathering momentum gradually. N.C.C. for girls is attracting a large number of girls every year instilling in them a feeling of patriotism.
Workshops and Seminars are an integral part of the healthy package provided by the school. The credit for this goes to NIE and PACE in association with Times of India and Hindustan Times.
Morning assembly of the school is a reflection of our rich cultural heritage. Holi, Diwali, Id, Guru Purub and Christmas are celebrated with the same religious fervor and gaiety, thus, giving the students an insight into oneness and unity of numerous castes and creeds existing in our country.

Adarsh School is a co-educational, English medium Public School where strong cultural values, national integration & brotherhood are taught to children. The ultimate goal being the inculcation of highest values which should not only be learnt & imbibed but retained & practiced all throughout the life………so that a strong, healthy, mentally aware & socially well-adjusted human being enters the society.
STAFF
The school has experienced teaching staff & skilled non- teaching staff members who focus on the all round development of the child. Teaching aids Audio-Visual methodology is followed in the regular teaching also. Playway method is stressed upon for the tiny tots.
EXAMINATION SYSTEM
Periodic Unit Tests & Terminal Examinations are conducted for all the classes. Final Examinations are held at the end of the academic session. Regularity is stressed upon and 80% attendance is essential for students to appear in the final examinations.
DISCIPLINE
Discipline cannot be taught by punishment. Students are given a choice between the good and the bad after explaining the pros & cons of each of them. Parents are expected to help the school in producing self-disciplined citizens of tomorrow.
AWARDS & PRIZES
To encourage the students & to make them the best, the school gives awards & prizes to the meritorious & outstanding students in the field of academics (first three toppers from each class), regularity (no holiday throughout the year) and sports. Some of the prestigious awards are: -
Along with the above, full fee concession and half fee concession is also given to meritorious/deserving students.All the above prizes can be claimed if the student continues further studies in the next class in the same school. The decision of the Principal shall be final and binding. The school reserves its rights to withdraw any award/prize at any time of the year without assigning any reason.
SCHOOL TRANSPORT
School transport is available for Kirti Nagar, Mansarovar Garden, Ramesh Nagar, Bali Nagar, Raja Garden, Moti Nagar, Sudershan Park, KaramPura, Zakhira, Patel Nagar, Naraina, Mayapuri, Subhash Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Vishal Enclave, Tagore Garden, Hari Nagar, Paschim Vihar, Raghubir Nagar and Peeragarhi. The charges are Rs-300/- and onwards depending on the distance from the school. No cancellation of bus facility is allowed during the year and bus fee will not be refunded.
